Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. – Mark Twain
Welcome to 25travels!
25travels is a travel blog focusing on finding the balance between travelling around the world and living a “normal” working life.
I hope that through this blog, I can share my travel experiences in the context of balancing work and travel – how you can enjoy the perks of seeing places & experiencing different cultures and still come back to your office desk, arrive on time for a business meeting and move forward with your career.
You don’t need money or to devote a full year or more to travel, all you need is the motivation to do it! I believe that travel is non-exclusive and a 9-5 job should never be an excuse not to see the world.
I proved it by travelling to 25 countries before I turn 25 (thus the blog’s name), a travel goal that I started when I was 21 and finished in June 2012 after travelling in countries across four continents. You can see my list on my list at Countries I’ve been page.
After finishing my goal, I continue to travel within the limits of my current job and financial situation, which is a challenge on itself – but very possible. There are still a lot of countries to go and a few countries that I want to go back in very soon.
I’m Jerick, 26 years old from Philippines and I currently work as full-time project manager for an e-Communications company in Brussels.
I’ve been an eager traveller since I took my first flight when I was 8 and my first international trip at 14 years old. Almost a decade after, I’ve travelled to more than 30 countries spanning four continents.
I consider most of my travel experiences to be the most rewarding part of my life so far – having of course a share of good and bad moments. I’ve experienced things that looking back five years I never thought I’ll get to do. Every journey I took has been a unique experience in itself and I take pride and joy for having devoted a good part of my life to travel and in exchange I hope to inspire others to do so too.
Apart from travelling, I’ve kept my interest around films, sports, history and a bit of cooking.
